This is our final play in the Norman Conquests Trilogy and it is often considered the funniest. We started off in the Garden in 2019, moved to the Living Room in 2021 and are now in the Dining Room in 2023! Will Annie get away for her illicit weekend? Her brother Reg and sister-in-law Sarah have arrived to look after mother. However, Norman has arrived to pick up Annie, contrary to plans. Nelly Power was a male impersonator and headliner at all the major theatres, but life was not a bed of roses and she was finally usurped by the next teenage sensation, her end was both sad and premature. That “teenage sensation” was Marie Lloyd! “Marie Lloyd Stole my life” is the story of the unglamorous side of showbusiness in Victorian London, told through the subversive lens of Music Hall. It’s a bit Ripper Street and a bit EastEnders, with songs.
