Synopsis: A thunderstorm.  A windswept county house.  A family of failures – a composer, a writer and an artist whose works have never been aired publicly;  a detective who hasn’t solved a case;  a dysfunctional teenager (is there any other kind?) – wrangling over a bequest.  All the prime ingredients for a murder mystery thriller in the traditional mould.  But this is by Alan Ayckbourn and there are surprises;  who will be the victim?  why is the victim?  who is the murderer?

Characters:

This is a six-hander  – Mortimer Chalke (composer); Jocelyn Polegate (writer, his sister);  Brinton Chalke (artist, their brother);  Amy Polegate (Jocelyn’s daughter);  Norris Honeywell (detective, Jocelyn’s partner);  Wendy Windwood (who is she?)
