Cold Blooded Killer

Synopsis: When grieving widower Jack disturbs Becky, an intruder, he is shocked by how much she resembles his wife, who is missing presumed dead, in a shark attack recently.Jack attempts to persuade Beck to impersonate his wife, to inherit the fortune of his mother, who died during the tragic holiday. Is Jack Telling the truth about her disappearance, and can Becky be Trusted to carry out the deception……
Characters:
Jack: Playing age mid 20 to mid 40’s. He is wary, moody and menacing. Initially suspicious with his own agenda
Becky: playing age mid 20’s t mid 30’s. She is flirty. confident and cautious, but in the end callous and determined. Must be able to do a convincing Irish accent (ideally Southern but can be changed to Northern)
This play premiered at the Leatherhead Drama Festival in 2013 and won the Fire and Iron Award for New Writing.

A parody of 21st century culture and living with the constant cloud of social media, dating Apps, the changing landscape and of course people around us that perhaps prefer things as they used to be. There are undertones of reflection on relationships and growing old (dis) gracefully
Character:
Maisie: Slightly mousy, introverted and downtrodden, playing age mid 40’s, been unlucky in love (she now rebuffs men on internet dating sites!)and has moved back in with her well off cantankerous mother. Let down by a series of men she speaks about the behaviour of European domesticated felines at conferences, drinks white wine , coffee and espresso martinis!
Andy: Playing age early 40’s, confident, slightly flamboyant, natty dresser, knows a small amount about most things but specialises in virtually nothing )other than failed relationships)His confidence hides an inner turmoil of self loathing, depression,, vulnerability, and a deep desire to find “the one”
Mum (Beryl): No nonsense well heeled londoner, done most things in life and wants people to leave her alone.She is not happy her daughter has moved in. She hates most things modern, Tik Tok, X, the French and EV’s
Ray the Coach: Gruff, to the point and fed up of driving coaches. He relieves the boredom by drinking too much and trying to find suitable females to for the 24/48 hour stop overs! His attempts with Beryl go very wrong. Does not understand the woke culture and wishes the empire was still in tact
Patrice: Flamboyant, suave good looking french man playing age 20’s/30’s works on eurostar as customer service assistant. Dreams of being in Moulin Rouge!
Jonathon: Playing age late 50’s, camp and plump. Cameo appearance as receptionist at Bruges hotel
