Jazz from Diane Slater
In the studio, we’ll hear some Jazz songs from…
Diane Slater
Having been a member of Kingston Orpheus Choir for a number of years, Diane decided to have a go at acting and joined an amateur dramatic group called Kasjog in 2007, playing the part of Tessa in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Gondoliers.
Continuing to take small parts with Knaphill and St Johns opera group (Kasjog) in several of their G&S shows, she also sang in Addlestone’s jazz concerts, enjoying them thoroughly, having always loved the Music of the 1930s and 40s – as a child, Diane always enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra, Billy Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald and many more of the great singers of that time.
Diane joined Molesey Musical theatre in 2013, and sang and acted in a variety of their shows, one of which was Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (see photo), and last November played the part of Dolly Messiter, in Hampton Hill theatre’s ‘Still Life’, the Noel Cowards play, which was later adapted to the film ‘Brief Encounter’.

“I sing in ‘open mic’ jazz bands throughout my locality, and have made many wonderful friends through my hobby of singing and acting.”
